I'm making this thread for the dudes who interest in streetwear but don't know what to start (like kyle8800) and others who are seeking help (like the the members who post no photos). I know a little bit about urban and streetwear for men, but when its come to fashion. I know mostly about women fashion and that what I'm trying to specialize in. This the thread everybody can add their two cent.
Let me start No cornrows after age 27. Cornrows in your 40s and 50s looks corny and make you trying to look hip and young. Classic fades and locs are timeless and ageless No gold lame graphic apparel No fake sneakers, start with Converse All Star low top chucks if you are a budget Leave the skinny jeans to the skinny or lanky built dudes. Tees and all tops should hit at your lowest hip, no short or tall tees. I'm leave the sneaker details and info to the sneaker collectors Wardrobe for beginners Streetwear Statement Jacket for cold season White Tee (either V-Neck or Crewneck) Black Tee Graphic Tee (white tee with black and white Minimalist Dark Denim Jeans (either in Straight Leg or Original Fit) Black or White Sneakers. If you going to buy colored sneakers stick to neutral color sneakers that are realistic to match. Think Gray, Black & White, Black & Grey, Brown, and earthy tone colors. Leave the vibrant colored sneakers to the pros like NECKBREAKA, sthebest1984, dpimpster84 , jbush, r-othashit, etc. Great places to shop are Ross, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Karmaloop, and Forever21 for sweaters and outerwear. Gentlemen look Keep It Neutral Colored. Leave the Loud Colors to pros like Pharrell Shawl neck neutral colored sweater Equestrian or Preppy Blazer (either in black, navy, tan, White Tee (either V-Neck or Crewneck) Black Tee Polo Shirt (branded by Lacoste or Ralph Lauren) Bermuda Pants for spring or summer (Optional) Low top neutral colored boater shoes (think Sperry Topsiders brand) Minimalist Dark Denim Jeans Argyle Sweater Sleeveless Argyle Sweater Vest Button Up Oxford Wing tip shoes Low top solid neutral classic sneakers for casual days Study deep into Ralph Lauren Men catalogs. Determines great examples of proper etiquette style for men. Last edited by Kennesha89; 03-31-2012 at 03:28 PM. |

Simply "KEEP IT REAL".
Avoid fakes; it may seem like an easy way to be cool or fashionable but, its really not. It makes you seem desperate to look cool Be true to you -Also when getting dressed stay true to yourself you should always feel comfortable if you feel like your wearing a costume then your trying too hard. Don't spend a fortune. Look for sales and clearances. Also don't get stuck on brands if you can't afford them. You can have on a 1,000 outfit and still look likea fool. Don't sacrifice quality for price - although it may be cheap in price doesn't mean it has to be cheap in quality. Every major retailer (online or in-store) has a sales rack. So avoid the cheap stores with the flashy metallic shirts in the window. If you can buy socks in bulk in the same place as your jeans you should rethink your purchase. Start with basics- - simple dark rinse jean avoid designs(I love levi 501 but any brand will do) - graphic Ts (old navy, macys, AE etc.) -simple sneakers if you can't afford Jordan don't worry, go with Adidas or pumas stay with simple colors that will match alot (blue, black or white) avoid cheap jewelry - rimestone necklaces, rings that look like they came from the bubble gum machine, big bulky fake necklaces - they make it look as thought your trying too hard fashion should be easy Don't over match - red shirt, red shoe, red pants is way too much, break it up with a blue jean or something Find a few pieces to invest in - I'll spend a little more money on things that will last long and that are not trendy - a nice watch, a nice shoe rare or unique, an accessory that just speaks to you or nice coat etc. Last edited by yungfrsh2def; 04-04-2012 at 03:08 PM. |
